Good Time Management is Sexy

Why?

Consider some things you can do when you plan your time efficiently:

Research a good date-night spot.

Be on time for date night.

Exercise consistently – and feel better.

Find a babysitter and surprise your partner with a night out.

Go out to lunch with your co-workers instead of eating at your desk. Again.

Go see a movie.

Prepare better for your meetings.

Read the book on your nightstand.

Play the instrument that’s sitting in the corner of your room (for 6 months).

Consider things you might do less of:

Scroll for hours on social media.

Wake up late.

Feel frazzled because you woke up late.

Pine over hot bodies on social media.

Arrive late for meetings.

Apologize for missing the deadline.

Ask for an extension.

Wish you had more time.

How might you feel if you started planning your time better?

Relaxed

Proud

Grateful

Focused

Clear

Responsible

Organized

Calm

Thriving

Time management is about finding connection.

Time management isn’t just about getting more done; it's about getting more from yourself. It’s about putting aside time for relationships and connection. It’s about finding more time for the things and people that matter most to you. If that means more time to read for pleasure, you can do more of that. If it means looking for a new job, you can do more of that. It’s time to look at time management as a way to better your inner life, not just get more busy-ness out of your life.

But how do I improve my time management?

First, schedule the things that must get done. Block off your urgent events and make sure to get them done. Then, block off time for things in your schedule that you want to do: lunch with a friend; research a class or program you’ve been thinking about; go to the gym; buy your crush or partner flowers.

Start small. Start with one or two things this week. As the poet David Whyte says, “Start close in, don’t take the second step or the third, start with the first thing close in” (“Start Close In”).

Then, next week, add another thing to your schedule. Check in with yourself. How does it feel? What else do you want to do? What else can you build in? If you went out to lunch one day with a colleague, can you do that again? Can you go with someone else?

Good Time management is sexy.

It’s sexy when you show up in the world. When you show up ready and alert at work. When you show up in your community. When you show up for the people you love and the people who love you. When you show up so that people in your life can appreciate you more.

Good time management is an opportunity to be more sexy — and more you — right now.

What others have said (based on 5-star Google reviews for Kelly Vogel Coaching):

Kelly is a wonderful coach! The guidance I have received from her around time management and listening to my own needs and abilities when it comes to my work and schedule have been so helpful. I highly recommend working with her, especially if you own a small business. -Eric A.

Kelly is amazing! She is a wealth of knowledge with the tools to help create the schedule and habits that I have been working on my own for years (with limited success) to master. Time blocking and using the tools she has given me to reduce distractions and boost productivity are invaluable. - Amy C.
